About Fran
Fran is a Tokyo-based German visual artist, photographer, and mixed-media designer creating handmade design objects and experimental photography.
Her work moves at the intersection of people and editorial photography, exploring atmospheric scenes defined by experimental compositions and vivid bursts of color. Influenced by avant-garde, impressionist, and surrealist aesthetics, she seeks moments where reality and imagination seamlessly merge.
After completing a photography apprenticeship and studying communication and visual design in Berlin, Fran developed a visual language that blends emotional perception with conceptual design. She has realized numerous editorials in which she took on both the role of photographer and art director — overseeing the creative concept, aesthetic direction, and overall production process.
Extensive solo travels across the world – and several months living in Hawaii – have shaped her sensitivity to light, color, and cultural contrast.
Both Hawaii and Japan continue to influence her visual language in profound ways.
Today, she lives and works in Tokyo, expanding her photographic practice and exploring new connections between photography, design, and materiality.
